John H
Instruments: Guitar, Lead and Backup Vocals, Sound/Light Engineer, Full time Roadie.
Founding member of One Fine Mess. John played with bands such as Epoch, Roadhouse, New Frontiers, The Shop, and a former version of One Fine Mess. John and Ed met a long time ago in the band Epoch. Ed was always on his list of favorite drummers. They were in two bands together before this current version of One Fine Mess. When he was ready to start a three-piece band Ed was the logical choice.
Playing guitar since the age of eight, he's had a lot of experience. Experience is the name we give our mistakes. When he heard the theme from The Beverly Hillbilly s for the first time he just had to play banjo. His parents couldn't afford a banjo so he got a cheap guitar and has been playing guitar since. John still doesn't own a banjo. A part of his life is empty because of this. That could explain a few things. Maybe some day he will. What the hell, AC/DC used bag pipes on 'It a Long Way To The Top'!
John studied theory and improvisation with local jazz guitarist Tony Pepicelli for nearly a decade. Some of that jazz influence can still be heard in various melodies throughout the performance. He only wishes he could remember more of those teachings.
Main Guitar: PRS Custom 24.
In rotation John also plays Gibson Les Paul Custom, vintage BC Rich 10 string Bich, Mockingbird, Eagle, Gibson SG and Fender Stratocaster. Amps: Marshall tube amps. JCM-2000, Silver Jubilee, Blue 30th Anniversary, Plexi and Hughes & Kettner custom tube amps.
Other stuff: PA, lighting, drum, bass, keyboard equipment or anything that s on sale at Guitar Center. The entire band has an issue with extreme shopping there.
